Tuesday 7 June 2011: Barr Beacon
The War Memorial at Barr Beacon just outside Walsall. Apparently if you draw a straight line east, the next highest thing you'll meet is the Ural Mountains.
The dome is made of wood, covered in copper. A couple of years ago some bright spark decided to liberate some of the copper (you can see some of the sheeting covering the damage on the right) - it still hasn't been repaired.
