The Eagle Has Landed

Our glen, this is the third time it's been photographed at different times of the year.

Today has been cold and snowy - not bad really. The highlight so far was our walk in the woods,
1....because Ruaridh lost us and ended up back at the house by himself while we waited around in the cold shouting out lungs out. After an hour we gave up, headed home and found him waiting for us, with a big welcome of course.

2....was our Close Encounter with a Golden Eagle. As we were walking in the remotest part of the woods we disturbed a small herd of deer, mostly hinds. Moving along we spotted a single stag about 40 meters from us leaving the woods to go back on to the hillside. At this point we were above the stag on some high ground. Just as we stood there a Golden Eagle flew below us along the woodline again coming within 40 metres at eye level. It was immense.

Even around here eagles are rare, we see them occasionally around the mountains but this is the first time we've had such a close up look.

Fantastic.
