...for doing dishes?

Doing the washing up is much like stair climbing in that the task requires little thought and so my brain starts working on other things and sometimes even just refining the task at hand.

Should the cups be stacked on their side or upside down? Is there any flat plates to help hold up the not so stable curved pasta plates on the rack? Is the space saving afforded by extra flat plates worth getting ones from the cupboard when they're all clean? Are there any glasses that need to go in the clean water first.

This is my contantly evolving set of un-written dish washing rules.
