Luss

This is the village of Luss , on the shores of Loch Lomond and this pier one of the places where the new water bus service will call, opening up much of the loch to visitors who might only have stopped previously at Balloch, or at Tarbet when driving north.

Luss is a conservation village within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park (which I was visiting today to talk to their Convener and Chief Executive) and can be stowed out on a holiday weekend. Today it was looking at its best, despite the showers and despite the threat to the local school, one of the 11 planned for closure by Argyll & Bute Council, though it is being ably defended by the parents, the community, some of the local councillors and the local MSP Jackie Baillie.

The Lomond and Helensburgh areas are within the present Argyll & Bute Council area (and the Westminster constituency) but are not in the Argyll & Bute Scottish Parliament Constituency, which covers only the old county of Argyll.
