Sgwarnog: In the Field

Yellow Flag

It seems to have been a few months since the bright green shoots of the Yellow Flag Iris started emerging in the boggy patches of the moor, but it is only in the last week or so that they've begun to bloom. Wendles56 and Jeanneb53 blipped them much earlier (May 22) just the other side of the valley.

It was nice to bump into earthdreamery on the train this morning, and I see he's also blipped a boggy patch over the other side of the moor today. Like there, Baildon Moor is very dry at the moment. Most of the small ponds which were full of frogspawn at the beginning of spring have dried up, so I'm guessing this won't be a good year for the frogs.
