Monday 13 June 2011: Stellar's Jay

These birds thrive in picnic areas of Big Basin, living off garbage and handouts from visitors. But a video in the park museum explains that the proliferation of the jays has led to their spread into the forests, where they prey on the nests of marbled murrelets, an endangered species. The message is, don't feed them, even if they're cute.
