Golden Gallopers

Went to the Castle Fraser Steam Rally today ... these are the "Golden Gallopers", a steam-powered carousel built in Kings Lynn in 1882 and still galloping to this day ... like this one in sepia.

Hadn't been to a steam rally before today ... lots of very interesting traction engines etc. and lots of steam and smoke drifting about to make taking crisp photos a challenge, but its great to see so many old engines still in working order rather than sitting as static museum exhibits.

There was also some Terrier racing ... highlight of which was when a Jack Russell grabbed the lure (a fox's brush), ripped it off the line then ran away with it :-)
