Tuesday 21 June 2011: Waiting for the blades.

Having opened the new Breadalbane Community Campus in Aberfeldy this morning, I was on my way back to Edinburgh in the torrential rain (some Mid Summers Day it has been !) when the car was stopped by a police officer outside the site of the new Griffin Wind Farm on the back road to Dunkeld.

We were asked to wait for a few minutes for an exceptional load which was due "within ten minutes". It took a bit longer, but the sight was worth the wait - three massive blades being brought in on three huge low loaders. The amount of such traffic hereabouts over the past few months must have been considerable (and no doubt annoying at times) but by the look of it the amount of generaton will be impressive.
