Opening night

Quiet before the crowds, this is the award winners wall at the end of year exhibition - a couple of mine up there along with the rest. It was a great night - place was mobbed despite the weather in Edinburgh that was more midwinter than midsummer. The exhibition was opened by Paul Hill - an important figure in British photographer who set up The Photographers' Place as a centre for residential workshops in 1976 and later got an MBE for services to photography. He said a few encouraging words and said we should above all stick to our own personal photographic styles. After the exhibition most of us went on to a pub on Leith Walk and I spent a few hours chatting with friends and fellow students. Not to say my fellow students aren't also good friends - but some of my friends there weren't fellow students :-) Anyway, a great night with some great people !
