Sgwarnog: In the Field

In the Shade

A quick return to Sentinel Tree, which I first introduced you to in December.

The lush greens of the moor have yet to be scorched by the summer heat. This rough pasture at the edge of the moor is occasionally grazed by cattle or sheep, which mght have made the foreground more interesting, but mostly lies empty. This is near where the Stonechats took up residence in the spring, although I haven't seen them for a few weeks now.

You can just about make out the the remnants of Brandcliff Pit on the skyline to the left, one of the old deep shaft coal mines that were worked mainly in the nineteenth century.
