Wednesday 29 June 2011: Small skipper?
I think this might be a small skipper butterfly. The colours were amazing in the sunshine. I went for a medium walk today - skies looked a bit brighter at lunchtime. This was in some long grass at the edge of a footpath through a field of clover and long grass. The field was alive with meadow brown butterflies and grasshoppers. This butterfly let me get three shots before it took off.
Significant day at work - the dreaded journal impact factors were published today. These give a measure (though much debated!) of the number of times that articles published in a journal are cited by other researchers. High impact factors are good....the one for my journal fell under a significant whole number for 2010. Two of our other journals went up but another went down too. There will be much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth!
