Thursday 30 June 2011: Tangerine dreams

Living in Cumbria in north-west England, there aren't many places where we can see a sunrise over coastal water. Sandside on the Kent estuary is one of those, where the channel turns westwards to flow into Morecambe Bay. At this time of the year when the sun rises at its highest latitude, the sunrise is reflected by the water of the estuary and the saturated sediments of the mudflats.

You have to be early though, and I can thank Bob the Cat for another rude awakening, this time even earlier than yesterday. Tomorrow I intend to have a lie-in.

ps Wifie had an excellent view of a sparrowhawk perched in the garden this morning, but I wasn't quick enough.
