Friday 1 July 2011: Open for business (and pleasure)

The Queen opened the fourth session of the Scottish Parliament this morning. This afternoon - after the 129 MSPS have hosted visits by their "local heroes" (mine was Somerset Charrington ) - the doors were thrown open and there was much entertainment which included young performers from the Centre for Excellence for Traditional Music in Polckton, which I visited in March this year and which now has a secure future. The tallent in the place is amazing, and it is ably nurtured by the piper Dougie Pincock
