Back and Forth thru time

Welcome to the Machine

I read somewhere once that printer ink was the costily liquid (per mil) on the planet.

More expensive than fine perfume, more expensive than rocket fuel, more expensive than the rarest bottle of chateau wobbly wobbly 1867.

What a con.

Since no.1 daughter now seems to do all her homework exclusively electronically the printer never seems to get a rest. It used to be the preserve of the washing machine to be the number 1 utility item in terms of daily usage..but no more.

Now its firmly the printer that assumed that role, churning out endless reams of paper wtih how to save the planet, life cycle of a pencil, timetables, attendance forms, things that need to be signed, things that need to be ticked..

honestly, its on its last legs, wheezing away like some mechanical geriatric with chronic lung disease, only rousing itself for another spurt of energy when it receives its monthly transfusion of 17mls of black and tricoloured plasma,

the saddest thing is although it was a good printer in its day, and expensive too, with the money i've shelled out for ink i could've bought a lorryload of printers or even the Manchester Printworks...

and still it goes on....once it dies i'm going to hire a full time graphic artist to sit in the spot the printer currently occupies, and draw or design a bright bar chart or a bold newspaper front page whenever one is required....at least it'll save me some money!
