Arum Dracunculus Vulgaris

Many years ago we met a man walking around at the Bellingham Farmer's Market. He had some bulbs in his hand and was offering them free to anybody who would promise to plant them in their yard. We agreed. What started as one plant is now a clump and this year we have seven flowers growing. This is the plant the man gave us. It produces a large beautiful flower that smells like rotting meat. Flies love it. We love looking at it. Fortunately the smelly period is only a day or so. By keeping our distance for a day or so we get to see but not smell the flowers. It's an amazing plant.

From Wikipedia: Dracunculus vulgaris is a species of aroid in the genus Dracunculus and is known variously as the Dragon Arum, the Black Arum, the Voodoo Lily, the Snake Lily, the Stink Lily, the Black Dragon, the Black Lily, Dragonwort, and Ragons.
