Emblem of Scotland ~ The Thistle

This photo is for all my Scottish friends!

The story behind this photo is an interesting one but rather long. While out doing my errands today I spotted a huge flume of smoke in the distance. I heard on the radio that it was a warehouse fire. The smoke was still there after my errands were done and I set off to find it.

Of course, I wasn't even sure where I was going, I just drove toward the smoke. Along the way I stopped to photograph some corn stalks. That was where I spotted this thistle. I wasn't really sure what it was until I tried to break off a stem to bring home and I was rewarded with getting a finger full of prickles!

I never did get close enough to the warehouse fire to get any photographs.
