Saturday 16 July 2011: A Bug's Life
It's a grasshopper that's about the size of my thumbnail, with antennae out to here, and they're beautifully striped. I appear to have caught it in the act of something: either laying an egg or, ahem, pooping. It has deposited a tiny very round yellow ball on the leaf. Problem is, when I google grasshopper eggs, the images all show elongated dark objects that are usually deposited underground, and when I google grasshopper poop (there is a surprisingly long list, including videos) there is nothing like what we have here. So, although I seem to have been present at a very important moment, I have no idea what just happened...
