It's a gas, gas, gas

Today in the lab, we look at respiration. This involved collecting expired air in big bags and then analysing it. The students did really well today and we got some good results. They also presented them informally as well, so will be ready for the more formal presentation they have to do tomorrow.

As my part of the lab, I spent quite a while passing syringes of air through gas analysers to see how much oxygen they'd consumed, and how much CO2 they had expelled.

The subject of the photo is a couple of the gas cylinders used to calibrate the aforementioned sensor.
Well, it was a busy day otherwise!
