Worpswede Sky

I went on a hike with a friend today. We met at Bremen central station and took the bus to Worpswede, a village north of Bremen with a long history as an artist's colony. Our luggage consisted mainly of a tarpaulin and a dixie with spirit burner to make tea. We left the village quickly and cut across country to walk the Teufelsmoor moorland near the river Hamme. We made camp near the tracks of the Moor Express, a heritage railway that doesn't run at night. We build a shelter using the tent square, two pack straps and some wood from a dead tree as tent poles. We also took some wood from the tree to build a campfire. The Teufelmoor is peat- rich and we didn't want to set fire to it accidentally. So we used the stony causeway as a base and removed the ashes in the morning very carefully.

The sky looked rather threatening all the time, but it didn't rain (exept for a few drops), it was windy but not really cold. The night was very dark, no stars to be seen. The only light was our small fire and a glimmer of light from the village far, far away.

I found it difficult to choose a pic for today, so I posted the runner up on twitpic:
