Sunday 31 July 2011: Carter's Steam Boats
Stretching the theme a bit, but Carter's Steam boats are a remarkable survival from the 19th Century.
One Boat has the Union Jack on the bottom and is painted with pictures of great British naval and racing vessels, the other with the Stars and Stripes and US vessels.
They are powered by a venerable stationery steam engine named Yorky.
The experience is totally terrifying as the boats swing to almost vertical on each side.
Carter's Steam Fair was at Womad over the weekend, together with excellent 1950s rock and roll dodgems.
