Kelly Slater

Today we went to the US Open of Surfing Championships in Huntington Beach. We were able to watch Kelly Slater, number 1 in the world, pull off a miraculous come from behind victory in the semi-finals. He did an amazing no-grab backside 360 air on a soso wave to vault into the lead less than five minutes before the end of the heat. I was unable to get any shots of said trick as the crowd was massive, blocking my view of the action as I arrived. I did get this more mundane photo of him surfing in after his semi-final win. He still worked this wave even though he had the win in the bag. I guess that is what allows him to win championships at age 39.
