The president does the rounds
Dr. Mamdouh Shoukri, our president here at York University, came and chatted with the staff at the 1st Annual York U Staff Flash Picnic - an initiative of his office. The weather was great (sunny, breezy, 24C) and lots of people (50-60) came with blankets, yoga mats, sunglasses, and lunch. Very nice to catch up informally with peers I hadn't seen in a while. Nice to talk to the boss for a bit, too. The flash part was a bit of a misnomer - we got an e-mail a couple of weeks ago - but we did get a flash mob of kids from one or two of the youth camps we host on campus at Vanier College (at the centre of the photo). They ran in, stopped on the basketball court (we were on the lawn), sang for two minutes, then ran back to the College. Great fun.
