Friday 12 August 2011: The Ritz
Ah ha. To the back of beyond after work, just to be sociable. And I was. There's one good thing about all this riot stuff. It bring up into sharp relief something which is always present but so rarely acknowledged. That is, just how much we project our own views onto situations around us. The right wingers say its down to welfare dependency and liberal culture; the lefties say it's capitalist consumerist individualism and discriminatory policing.
Wise owl me knows that they can't both be right. Sorry, let me rephrase that. They may well both be right. Further insights will follow! But first, Friday night .. and there's a tradition to keep up. Pip pip!
