A sunny day in Baku

Apartment block reflected in the bronze glass clad central bank. It's a little cooler than it was before - time to start wandering around again. D now weighs 7.75kg though and wearing him on my front for much longer than a trip to the supermarket down the road is pretty tiring! There are areas in Baku where you can walk with a pushchair, but lots of the city is difficult for anyone but those on two (or four - Baku is a city of cats) legs.

It's been some time since I walked about in the city and I imagine a lot has changed - new buildings are going up everywhere, and sadly many beautiful old buildings are being demolished. It's not just an architectural loss, people living and working in buildings earmarked for demolishion are often not given adequate warning or compensation. Amnesty International has taken up the case of an NGO whose premises (and the contents) were destroyed a couple of days ago.
