Sunday 14 August 2011: St Columba Preaching to the Picts

I was at St Paul's Episcopal Church in Rothesay this morning and I was fascinated by this window which illustrates one of the much recounted episodes in the life of St Columba whose influence is still strong in the islands on the West Coast of Scotland. For example the tiny Episcopal Church on Islay, where I attended communion three days after Columba's feast day on the 9th of June , is dedicated to him.
