Getting Ready for the Harmonizers

A small, local theater (currently producing "Same Time, Next Year") made room for the Harmonizers tonight and their review of four part male vocal harmonies.

The music ranged from 1939 ("The Lion Sleeps Tonight") up through Glee's version of Katy Perry's 2010 "Teenage Dream." The Four Seasons numbers were vocally the best but the choreography was smoother and less clunky in the boys' band numbers from the 1990s.

They also did a nice sampling from Crosby, Stills, and Nash, but incorrectly credited "Ohio" to CSN when it was written by Neil Young and performed by CSNY.

It was an entertaining, musical evening with some historical patter in between songs. The musical director (doubling as the keyboard player) did a great job of keeping it all together and cueing the singers when they occasionally hesitated. The back-up band was solid.

Here's hoping your music is to your liking!
