Tuesday 16 August 2011: Parkhill Primary
It was back to school for Parkhill Primary at Leven today - as it was for lots of schools in Scotland though many more return tomorrow. Last September I opened the new part of Parkhill - today I was back to see the fully refurbished and restored 1911 building which, to the great credit of Fife Council, was not demolished or abandoned, but sensitively brought back into contemporary use, thus giving the lie to the perpetual argument that "old buildings can't be used for modern education ". Rebecca, Cameron and Jasmine from Primary 7 showed me round, and - just as last time - I was warmly welcomed by Mrs Wallace, her staff, the local councillors and the entire school community. Thanks.
