On Broad Wings

Went down to the local hide today after work; the seasons are turning. Birds are moulting out of their summer plumage, and there is a feel of upcoming migration.

This is a Marsh Harrier, these birds will go south over the winter some going to the sub saharia. At the end of September I'll be going out to Malta and doing some voluntary work with Birdlife Malta, counting the birds and hopefully preventing some of the Maltese hunters from killing them in their hundreds as they make the crossing from Europe to Africa - if you want to sponsor the trip and support a campaign to stop the slaugher, visit my Just Giving site.

Even if you don't, keep an eye on these pages from September 20th onwards as I will be using them as a journal for the trip to Malta and suggesting actions (such as writing to MEPs and MP) .
