Saturday 20 August 2011: Dino-Tastic!
This little smile is golden in the sunlight today ...
This little smile is for the wonderful Silverback who made it happen, with a great big box full of new DINO-SAAAAAAAUUUUURS that arrived today. Finlay's been roaring with glee ever since! There has been one in each hand from the moment they arrived - they even sat around his plate at mealtimes ... I foresee a crowded cot tonight!
This morning, we packed them all up (safely, so there would be no more losses!) and headed for the local heath. It was a beautiful spot and the rabbit warrens and bracken made a perfect Dinosaur Kingdom.
As a young girl, growing up on a farm, rabbit warrens were a favourite place to play with our Barbie and Sindy dolls - they make great houses and when you're little, you don't notice the carpet of rabbit droppings that surround you ... all good for the immune system! It's really lovely to watch our own child play, just as we used to all those years ago.
We've had such a perfect family day. Low key ... walking on the heath and then by the river ... bramble picking ... a visit to Finlay's new nursery ... lots of gentle chatter in glorious sunshine. Even the sudden downpour did nothing to dampen our spirits.
A goes off abroad tomorrow, on a business trip to the wilds of Russia. We will miss him terribly. But today has been about savouring the moment.
I feel all wrapped up in love for and by my little family this evening.
It feels wonderful.
I'm very, very lucky.
I'm maxxing out the weekend with A here, but will be back to comment in earnest this week - I want to drop by and say thank you to each of you who welcomed me back so kindly x
