Saturday 20 August 2011: Wigwam Festival

Today we headed out to the Mohegan Tribe Wigwam Festival that was held at Fort Shantok.

The festival includes traditional Native American food, crafts and dancing. The tribe says it has been celebrating the festival since before the arrival of Europeans to North America.

There were so many incredible outfits, and also many different handmade items that were available to purchase.

More pictures here! Hopefully this link will work...

Now, we are headed out into the woods to find some wood to make our own wigwam for the yard!

in caterpillar news....the big caterpillar transformed into a crysalis this morning, and the little one is eating away!!
