Van de Graaff's slide rule
Today I did a lot of photography of papers and such of pioneering American nuclear experimental physicist Robert J. Van de Graaff at the home of his son Bill and his family. It has been a lovely experience. This first trip here follows on the heels of a trip last month to John and Marylee's home where I recorded more material after a first trip the year before. Among the materials and papers here near Chicago is this slide rule which belonged to Robert. Tonight: the midnight bus back home to Toronto. Then back to work Tuesday where I have been asked to photograph our former Governor General, Michaëlle Jean, who is visiting YorkU. Sounds like a most unusual blip opportunity.
