Tuesday 23 August 2011: Fuchsia
Well I will never have trouble spelling this flower again: it is named after the German scientist Leonhart Fuchs--that gets all those consonants in the right place once and for all. And here's your second factoid for the day: the first recorded use of fuchsia as a color name in English was in 1892. Not to be confused with fashion fuchsia, also known as Hollywood cerise. I really never looked at Wikipedia before I started this blog, and now I know so many interesting things!
