Carradale Water

A busy day in the garden cutting two large rhododendron hedges, inbetween some heavy showers This is a job that has to be done at least every other year or they start to take over the garden. When we bought the orininal house 8 years ago the garden was a jungle of rhododendrons and sycamore trees. You could barely see the house for all the undergrowth. We spent the next 5 years cutting down most of the trees and bushes to make way for the new house. Rhoddies, as they are not so affectionately referred to in these parts, are extremely invasive and have taken over large areas of countryside in Argyll. I think this is why we are so determined to keep on top of them!

I took a very boring blip of the hedges but then the sun appeared to provide better options. A quick walk to the river at the front of the house and a chance to blip some boats in Carradale Water estuary looking east towards Arran. Great to see blue skies again and some white puffy clouds again. This is one of my favourite spots in Waterfoot and is absolutely stunning on a clear winter's day. Does this mean I have to keep blipping until the river freezes over, as has happened during the last 2 winters?
