Friday 2 May 2008: Robin

I was walking home from school today and had the fortune of stumbling upon this beautiful robin sitting on the bench on my front lawn!
I ever so quietly took out my camera, but felt pessimistic about my chances of getting a shot. I was already so close to him, and felt convinced that he would notice my presence and fly away. Every other time that I've tried blipping a bird, it has never worked out in my favour.
But this one stayed perched there for a good five shots before he decided that he was bored. Thus, I give you my first successful bird blip!

In honour of my lovely subject for today and my mood at the current moment, here is a cute little song my father used to sing to me:

When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along, along,
There'll be no more sobbing when he starts throbbing
His own sweet song.
Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head,
Get up, get up, get out of bed,
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red,
Live, love, laugh and be happy.
What if I've been blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers,
Rain may glisten, but I still listen for hours and hours.
I'm just a kid again, doing what I did again, singing a song,
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along.
