Sunday 28 August 2011: Hop Scotch
There are way too many markers in this game, and there were no players in sight.
One of our neighbors organized a neighborhood garden walk this morning. About a dozen of us trooped around a few blocks and got to see what's behind the fences we pass everyday--amazing old fruit trees, a pear orchard, a dazzle of dahlias and tomatoes five feet tall. Several kinds of nasty gopher traps, a flock of chickens and fascinating yard art. Met a group of intrepid gardeners and we are already talking about sharing seeds and bulbs and extra produce. It was a wonderful morning.
