Sunday 4 May 2008: Starvation
This tree started out as a little baby. I remember when we first got her, there were no leaves. She was about as tall as I was, perhaps with a trunk as thick as my arm.
She has grown up so fast.
Every spring, her leaves turn bright green, collecting the sun's rays. She has matured and learned to flourish, year after year.
This is the way of trees, and almost anything that can be found in nature.
They progress. They become stronger, more admirable, as time goes by.
Why is it that humans don't follow this natural law?
Our hearts and bodies become frail. Our minds get sick. We overeat, we starve ourselves, we hook ourselves up to oxygen machines, we take our lives prematurely.
Either way, we seem to be determined to do anything we can to go against the flow of nature...the destiny that was intended for us.
...Or could it be that absolutely nothing was intended for us?
We are out of control.
My dear cousin, if you ever choose to look at this...I am rooting for you. We will both win our battles. You'll see.
