Spectacular

After seeing the old part of Valencia yesterday we saw today some of the most breathtaking modern architecture I've ever seen.

The City of Arts and Sciences is a complex of huge buildings, including a concert hall, a cinema, a science museum and the 'Oceanographic', or giant aquarium.

Most of them designed by Santiago Calatrava, the buildings have to be seen to be believed, but are a photographer's dream!

The weather was blisteringly hot (36C, although well short of the 44C they've been having in Seville), so we spent the rest of the day on the beach.

It was very civilised and relaxing and the sea water was actually warm. Before today, I had never been able to get into the sea without having to brace myself for a temperature shock.

Today it was straight in, no messing. It was like taking a lovely warm bath in the biggest bath in the world.
