Campus Allotment

More than twenty years ago some friends and I tried to get permission for an allotment to grow veggies on campus at Lancaster Uni. We didn't manage to persuade the right people, so ended up getting a traditional allotment in Bowerham instead.

Roll forward a couple of decades, and the students at Bradford Uni have been a little more successful, and there's been a veggie and herb patch, grown to permaculture principles, tucked away at the corner of campus for a couple of years now. Elsewhere on campus we have fruit crops, and behind the green gauze structure on this image is our apiary.

This shot also gives a good view of one of my early blips, brick canyon, here seen in a more traditional perspective running up the side of the J.B. Priestley Building (top left). You can also see the other side of the metal chimney that featured in energy trails.

Now we're into September it feels like the new academic year is upon us, although it's a couple of weeks before the students will be back with us.
