Beach Day!

... well, sort of.

Usually our storms come from the north east, and the wind howls. Irene came from the south and was quiet. And because Irene veered inland before reaching Massachusetts, we were to the east of the eye for once. This meant that we got strong winds, but only moderate rainfall.

Anyway.

Naturally I went down to the beach to watch the action - and so did a lot of other people. Most couldn't resist the temptation to get in the water - it was surprisingly warm. Some just stood in the ocean, mesmerized by the waves.

About 11am our power went off - most of the utilities cables in this part of the world are above ground and very vulnerable to storms. Not much to do indoors without electricity, even angry birds gets boring after a while, so I went for another walk along the beach. Mr. Lightwave went and sat in the car. Cold mashed potatoes for dinner! Then we sat on the balcony and watched the clouds roll across the sky as it slowly got dark.
