Sunday 4 September 2011: Cultured...
555/365: ... innit!
[details of editing on my Kinda Before Horrigans journal]
Q. What do you get when you have one bridge... two children... and a bucketload of curiosity?
A. A dangly legs shot!
Anyhoo... super busy today. Up about 6 as normal and made a dinner I could shove in the oven later because the plan was to get out and about. So... we did! The reason for our out and aboutness is that tomorrow is Nick's birthday but I'll be at work and have a v.long day ahead... but, we wanted to celebrate.
Well. We got ourselves fully cultured up! First, to the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield and later to the 'Ultra'* Sculpture Park. The former was nice but too staid and Maddy got told off for taking pictures by a 12 year old Gallery Assistant**. Because there's a real market for out of focus pictures at knee height... of course?!? However, lunch there was nice and the kiddie food was 'proper' and not soggy chips and mushy beans which is a fairly standard veggie offering for kids. Why they think all children eat crappy chicken nuggets and cheapo burgers at most other places I don't know! But, this was good. Homemade houmous with veggies to dip in and nice fresh bread too. Very nice. The rest was a bit of a let down and the St. Ives Hepworth place is loads better.
As is the Ultra Sculpture Park. The show in the long gallery there is ace. All light and dark and sound and movement. Plus, you can take pictures which made Maddy Moo happy! And the grounds are a little slice of rolling green countryside which folds itself around you. Love it! A nice way to finish off the day.
Am seriously pooped now and off to bed as it's back to work tomorrow.
PS Urgh to the commute tomorrow...
PPS ... but yay for our internet connection returning and me being able to replace the rubbishy iPhone shot which was here for a few hours first!
PPPS ... oh, and yay for family Sundays!
* Ultra = Yorkshire, but Felix insists it's ultra!
** Am reaching that age where everyone under 20 looks this old
