Norwich City War Memorial and Castle

Two for one here.

The Norwich civic war memorial has this year been re-opened after 6 years of restoration.

It is sited on the hill on which the 1930s Norwich City Hall, inspired by Stockholm City Hall.

Norwich Castle can be seen in the distance on tis man-made Mound. The Castle was originally built in wood after the Norman Conquest and constructed in stone from 1100.

It was taken by Louis the Dauphin at the start of Henry IIIs reign and became a grim prison from the Tudor period.
