Marjorie's ramblings

Broomhouse Common and Beyond

Today the Haltwhistle long walkers undertook a walk that is in the upcoming October festival. The forecast was for unsettled weather; all morning we had sun interspersed with heavy showers. Part of the walk is over moorland that really consists of peat bog with heather on top. Here you see a group of walkers battling against high winds and the heather. There is no clear path, so you have to make your own way. In the afternoon it suddenly poured +++ and we were like drowned rats by the time we got back to Haltwhistle. It's an excellent walk - and you can come on it too - see Haltwhistle Walking Festival

This evening Mum and I went to S and J's house for a wonderful meal to celebrate Mum's birthday. I'm nearly asleep - lots of good food and good wine - mmm.
