Great Eastern War Memorial, Liverpool St. London

This is the GER War Memorial unveiled on 22nd June 1922 by Field Marshall Sir Henry Wilson - see my earlier blip from 4 August of his medal ribbons and flag of truce from the Boer War.

After leaving the ceremony Sir Henry was assassinated by the IRA. This is commemorated by the plaque in the bottom right.

It's very difficult to get a photo of the memorial given the kiosk to its front. A very simple design with alphabetical list of of names of the many dead GER staff members, with the magnificent GER crest at the top, composed of the coasts of arms of the cities served by the Great Eastern.

On the left someone has seen fit to insert a lift entrance into the memorial.
