Sunday 11 September 2011: Oh No!
Today I had a run out to Hawthornthwaite Fell Top in deepest Bowland. The Triangulation Pillar that used to stand several feet above the surrounding land on top of a stone plinth fell down a couple of years ago and here it lies in a bit of a sorry state.
I have managed to find an earlier (poor quality) picture of the trig when it was still standing - here
