Tuesday 13 September 2011: The Blossoming of Friendship ...
Last week, I was in the chemist and a woman walked past me with her young son. I liked her style ... then I found myself staring at her arse, where a neon yellow sticker had attached itself to her dress.
I swiftly decided I'd rather know if I was unwittingly attracting arse-attention, so I stopped her and told her and we just hit it off immediately. How random and brilliant is that?! I thought 'nothing-ventured-nothing-gained?!' and suggested we got together ... we swapped numbers and today, child-free, we got together for morning-tea.
A friendship blind-date, if you will?!
And it was wonderful! She is absolutely lovely and fascinating and we talked and talked solidly for two hours and it was fabulous fun! I came away feeling refreshed, revitalised and already looking forward to seeing her again.
Our beautiful corner of the UK is basking in sunshine today (bar the odd shower) and as I left the cafe, I was overcome with how lucky we are to be living in such a gorgeous place. Building a life for ourselves, free of the Army and all the constraints that go with it, free to make our own decisions, seeing Finlay so happy and settled, watching A enjoying forging a new career, our new baby growing inside me ...
I pinch myself and it's all real.
Amazing.
Just amazing.
