Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

I never saw the Alec Guinness TV version of this so I can't compare it.
But this was FF (fucking fantastic).

All the roles were played by actors all at the top of their game.
Even the bit parts were played by actors capable of leading roles.
Gary Oldman is totally superb.
Beautiful 70's look, but never over-played, the lighting subtle,
the faces of the actors are never lit directly,
so you really feel the shadowy quality of the characters.

The best line in the whole film belongs to Kathy Burke though.
