Nasturtium in the shade

Nasturtium from the Latin means "twisted nose", so called because of one's reaction on tasting the peppery leaves which are full of Vitamin C - the flowers are edible too. Also known as Tropaeolum, they originated in Peru and were brought over by the Spanish conquistadors and later a Dutch botanist.

N visited Bristol again today - all going well there. T busy as usual on the farm but with some help today. He had the dilemma as to whether to cut the red clover for silage - it needs to wilt for a couple of days before it can be put in the pit. In the end they cut one large field with the hope the rain will stay away for a while. The seed cleaner also came to clean some of our wheat to plant for next year (cheaper than buying it in). We are not their favourite farm as their lorry has grown in size and gets stuck on our steep hill. Luckily T can pull vehicles up with a chain and a tractor.
