Big Praying Mantis at the Desert Botanical Garden

I found a magical place for a morning walk today - the Desert Botanical Garden. I think I will have to ask James to educate me on the best ways to photograph in bright sun coming from an angle. In NY, I usually had some clouds that blunted the sun, so I am out of my element.

Tomorrow is Bob's birthday party with his 1st grade class. We have never hosted a party for his full class, as his birthday fell over the summer in the NY school calendar. This year, school started very early and I figured it would be great to meet his classmates and parents. I don't know who is more excited - me or Bob!
