Park Cemetery in Ilkeston

As a Salvation Army Officer I have the wonderful privilege and great responsibility of conducting funeral services: ensuring they are personal and that they faithfully honour the memory of the person, as well as providing a significant moment for family and friends. I always strive to get the balance right between solemnity and smiles, and it's always a great satisfaction to receive positive feedback from the family by their looks during the service and their words afterwards. Today I conducted the funeral of a real character known as 'Mr Skegness' because of the number of times he had been there on holiday (over 100) and on day-trips! You can see his picture in a national newspaper here. The weather was wonderful, and I was pleased there were smiles as well as tears at the graveside.
