Irabot Day

Birth Celebration of the late communist national leader Hijam Irabot (died in 1952 in Tangbo, Burma while in underground) falling today, held in a grand way all across the state. He was an active pioneer in the struggle towards ending feudalism - removing powers from the king and install a government run by the people. He was always of the view that those who tills the lands should own it - peasants and farmers should own the farmlands instead of the landlords. He was one of the few national leaders who was truly loved by the people across countries far and wide and was amongst those few who possessed rare qualities of multi-faceted talents in an excellent way - being an excellent sportsman, artist, songwriter, lyricist, journalist, dramatist, social worker and a grand statesman.

Actively fought against
- untouchability,
- slavery,
- unpaid forced labour (by the king's authority),
- disparity amongst the rights of the people.

He gave particular emphasis on the strengthening of women's power since he believed that to make a strong society it's womenfolk too must be made strong.

He declassed himself from his high position of a nobleman/judge in the court to that of a common along with his wife who also declassed herself from a royal position of a princess.

His most notable observation was the ability to differentiate the Indian situation at that time from that of the European capitalist condition. He strongly argued that the working class in the Indian situation at those times were truly the peasants not the factory workers as in the case of the West's situation.

Though he died a revolutionary in a foreign land, the government later on, recognised his past deeds, and lifted all charges against him after his death. Nowadays, September 30 is observed as state holiday in honour to his dedicated works for the people and gave him the title Jana Neta (Leader of the Mass).

P.S. Isn't it surprising how things work out the way they're not actually intended to be? I was working heavily on editing some print and web images when he comes( Juge, my colleague) and invited me to go to the celebration site and photograph some women contingents from his area. I do obliged him and the blip went out like it's been documented on purpose:)
